Data

Where the data comes from.

Your roster is the only data you provide. Everything else comes from the public record, published under the Open Government Licence, with OpenStreetMap's roads under the Open Database Licence.

Real pupils, minimal data

Schoolplot runs on your own roster, not a national average. You send an export from your MIS with a pupil reference, a postcode, month and year of birth, and the dates each pupil joined and left, but no names and no full dates of birth. You upload it yourself, and update it whenever you like. It's held under a written data processing agreement. The demographics are official public statistics for every neighbourhood in England, from the latest release of each source. Every layer on the map says where its numbers came from.

What we do with your data

Your roster is used to draw your own school's map and to check the model behind it. It will never be sold, and no other school can see it. Only the people your school invites can sign in. It is held in London. On the map each pupil is a dot scattered about their postcode, never a pin on a home. Your school remains the data controller, and Axis Maps handles it only under the data processing agreement.

Your roster

Each pupil's home postcode, year group and dates on roll. Birth month and year only, never a full date of birth.

The demo runs on a demonstration school, so there's nothing to prepare and no data to bring to the call. Schoolplot is one annual subscription per school.
